Music Video : Scuba “The Hope”
Massive tune.
Fort Lean is back. This time with a bombastic track entitled “Sunsick”. Fort Lean is quickly climbing the rock and or roll ladder and with a driving rock tune like this, they are surely proving that they can play with the big boys. If you get a chance to catch Fort Lean you will definitely be impressed by how great “Sunsick” is live because of the super tight drums and bass that propel this epic pop tune forward.

CFCF dives into a extremely intellectual and moody realm with his latest mini-LP, “Excercises”. CFCF channels Steve Reich, Tangerine Dream, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Philip Glass into this latest release. Definitely a surprising and refreshing track from a producer such as CFCF.

John Talabot is a producer that really epitomizes the Catalan lifestyle and vibes with his tunes. He is a Barcelona based producer creating tracks that elevate the dancefloor into a moody and hypnotic state. His album “ƒin” is full of moody steady slowburner House tracks. The mood he sets borders the feeling of just starting off a night or ending the night and watching the sunrise. His tracks definitely have a parenthetical soundtrack feeling, it is up to you what you make of his music ( ).
The two standout tracks on the album both feature Pional. “Destiny” is a deep house pop song while “So Will be Now…” is a really journey of a song. In “So Will Be Now…” Talabot chops up vocals into a mantra that is reminiscent of Arthur Russell that floats a top a deep bassline.

Lucky Paul is a New Zealander by the way of Berlin that produces some spaced out psychedelic tunes, think Bullion meets Kindiness’ disco pop appeal. “Elephant Island” is out February 13 on somethinksounds. Be sure to catch Lucky Paul on tour this year as he fills in on drums in Feist’s touring band. Also be sure to check out a live 7 min improvised jam as Lucky Paul literally walks around his flat in Berlin sampling everything in his household.
Bonus: A tasteful re-work of the late and great Etta James.

The LOL Boys are slowly on their way to becoming LOL Men. This time they team up with their the lovely Caylery to make some grown’n’sexy music by way of the one and only Terius Nash aka The-Dream. This is a serious re-visioning of The-Dream, taking him into some deep territory.

If you missed the almighty Breakbot on tour with Chromeo, then you missed out on an epic music history dance lesson. Fear not here is a taste of how he schooled North America with his musical knowledge.
So Rock and Roll.
Bonus: The legendary Rick Rubin “ruins” the Justice boys with his very straightforward disco breakbeat remix of “On’n’On”. I was thinking this was gonna be a bigger rock and roll remix since it was in the hands of Mr. Rubin but I guess not…

Miike Snow follows up their epic single “Devil’s Work” with a fun and catchy track entitled “Paddling Out”. This is a track that is more dancefloor friendly with a super simple and straightforward hook that will definitely get caught in your head.
Miike Snow’s sophomore album “Happy To You” is out in March.
Emil of Emil & Friends has taken on M83’s 2011 hit “Midnight City” with this re-visioned cover of the track. Emil smooths out M83’s epic pop sound into a slick synth jam that sounds like it could’ve been on the “Drive” soundtrack. So please download and listen. Enjoy!
Also be sure to check out Emil & Friends at Brooklyn Bowl on January 28, 2012 opening for RAC. It will be Emil & Friends first show of 2012!
