Air steps in to clean up and fix up the MGMT single “It’s Working” a tune off of their album “Congratulations” which definitely fell short for me. Air transforms the tune into a pulsating, Kraut-Pop tune especially the outro of the song with its galloping bassline and twinkling piano. Suicide would be proud as well.

Pink Stallone returns with another original track but this time straying from their disco vibe for a more R’n’B/90s House/Garage vibe. Short and simple but to the point. Be on a look out for a full length release from them this year featuring house veteran, Joey Washington.
It seems that hanging out with Daryl Hall has rubbed off on the Chromeo boys. “Don’t Turn The Lights On” is the first single off of “Business Casual” which sounds like their version of “I Can’t Go For That” – which I feel is amazing. Every band should aspire to write tunes like Hall & Oates.
I witnessed Flying Lotus live twice opening for Atoms for Peace back in April and it was quite the mind-bending sonic assault. He tastefully de-constructs and mashes his tunes with unsuspecting songs by the likes of Mr. Oizo, Portishead, Burial and Radiohead. The one and only Mary Anne Hobbs invited FlyLo to her stage at Sonar 2010 which happened last week in Barcelona. For those of you not there to witness it here is a 21 min sample of Flying Lotus’ magic.
FYI he drops his remix of Mr. Oizo x Gaspard Auge’s “Rubber” in the middle of the set.

American Men are LuckyMe Records first band to be signed to the label that is home to the magical Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and Machine Drum, to name a few. American Men channels Hudson Mohawke’s pristine production (just take a listen to those drums) with the aesthetic and vibe of Warp Records bands, PVT and Battles. By fusing man and machine – drums, guitars, laptops, synths, and samplers galore in order to blur the line of what is producing sound.
Is it man created the machine that is making the noise is it the machine that is teaching man to make noise…?
Pickup the release “Cool World” to experience this sonic assault as well as amazing re-workings and re-visions by FaltyDL, Ikonika, Machine Head and Hudson Mohawke.

The Aussie duo Gypsy & The Cat have an album in the works for all of us with some great remixes lined up. Here is one of them by UK producer Wax Stag who is most known for remixing a favorite artist of mine, Bibio. This remix is a very simple and concise production that highlights how strong the vocal melody of the original song is, showcasing that it is the simple and lonely elements that really give a song its true character.
Today marks the official start of Summer and Luca C & Brigante, the Balearic disco duo tastefully re-edits one of my favorite Italian Pop songs by Lucio Battisti “Amarsi Un Po”. A tune I discovered via Jean Nipon on his Freedom Fries Mix. Just in time for the sunshine.
