Danger is the future of this French Touch revival. Justice pioneered that distorted heavy metal dance music but that can only be taken so far and ripped off by many. This is exactly what happened to Daft Punk, Alan Braxe, Cassius, Stardust in the late 90s, everyone began taking their sound which led to a rise of mediocre dance tracks. Danger fuses the nostalgic synth sounds of early video games with slap bass, distorted guitar/synth creating this epic sounding dance music, cerebral dance music.
Danger is releasing his first EP on Ekleroshock Records (Ekleroshock Records) in a few months with a remix by DatA. Danger just posted a new track on his myspace, Revolte at 22H10, so check it out.
This is my fav track by Danger fusing 90s Freestyle future female robot vocals with Rick Wakeman-esque weaving synth lines puncated by a tight drum and power chord rhythm secion. Try to figure out the lyrics. It is some Dada shit.
Danger, Para One, and SebastiAn are at the forefront of this electro revival. Cerebral Dance Music for all!!
Radiohead is one of those bands that I stray away from then I listen to my favorite songs by them and realize again why I love them so much and why they are so damn good. I am so anxious to hear new music from them. Their blog Dead Air Space has been leaving clues about their LP number 7 which they have been working on and documenting on the site for the past year and a half.
Dead Air Space
Here are some tracks that remind me why I love Radiohead:
Radiohead – Talk Show Host (From The Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack)
Radiohead – Maquiladora (Live@Astoria – London, England – 5.27.1994)
PJ Harvey & Thom Yorke – This Mess We’re In
Radiohead – Life In A Glasshouse
Radiohead – The Gloaming (Live@ Glastonbury Festival 2003)
Depeche Mode is another band that I have falling outs with but then I listen to that track that got me from day one and I just fall in love all over again ::swoon:: I remember the first time I heard a Depeche Mode song was in 8th grade when I heard the Sasha and John Digweed remix of Enjoy the Silence, a great track off of “Violator”. You should all check out David Gahan’s new solo album, Hourglass.
David Gahan Myspace
Some love for D-Mode:
Depeche Mode – Blue Dress
Depeche Mode – Suffer Well
Depeche Mode – Strange Love
Depeche Mode – Dream On
In 1974 an amazing collaboration occurred between two musical giants to produce an album that very few know about. “War Babies” a prog pop masterpiece that serves as a precursor of what amazing music these musical mavens would create. Todd Rundgren’s Utopia played all the music on the album providing a sound reminiscent of the prog greats of the time such as Yes, Genesis & King Crimson. I liken this album to what Minus the Bear does in the 21st century. Prog Pop at its best.
Hall & Oates – Beanie G. and The Rose Tattoo
Justin Timberlake totally rips off Andy Gibb, the youngest Bee Gee’s brother who was too good to be in the group and had to go solo. He was a total baller rock star and died of a drug overdose, too bad.
Andy Gibb – (Our love) Don’t Throw it All Away
Check out my boy Zack’s band Radiation Year and their new song from their upcoming cd, “Age of the Everglades”. They are a fresh sounding hardcore band that evokes the energy of Rage Against the Machine and just makes you want to kick someone in the face.
Radiotion Year – Sex On the Beach
Here is some German electro goodness from our boy, Boys Noize. Cranking out the distorted, tight, synth sounds that no one can resist. Check out the rest of his album Oi Oi Oi which comes out this week.
Boys Noize – Let’s Buy Happiness
Check out Engine.
LA Priest – Engine (Erol Alkan Re-Edit)
Check out their remix of producer extraordinaire, Timbaland.
Timbaland – Miscommunication (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)
Donna Summer – Dim All The Lights (Produced by Giorgio Moroder)
Michael Jackson – Workin’ Day And Night
Sparks – Tryouts for The Human Race (Produced by Giorgio Moroder & discovered by Todd Rundgren)
Van Halen – Somebody Get Me A Doctor
Earth, Wind & Fire – In The Stone
These are some of my fav cuts from 1979, enjoy.
Max Weinberg rocks.
“International Feel” in the opening of Daft Punk’s “Electroma”.
Todd Rundgren – Does Anybody Love You?
Todd Rundgren=Most amazing guitar solo ever
So we all know that Kanye owned 50 Cent (50 Cent Cancels Europe Tour). Graduation is amazing not just because Kanye sampled Steely Dan – Kid Charlemagne, Michael Jackson – P.Y.T. and had Jon Brion, Timbaland AND Daft Punk produce a track but because he sampled Can. He isn’t the first rapper to do so, Kurupt sampled Can’s most famous song “Vitamin C” on his track “Stalkin” but Kanye uses the hook so well on “Drunk and Hot Girls”.
Daft Punk & Kanye
Let’s all show some love and respect to Can since “All roads do lead to, Can.” Even Erol Alkan spins some Can related music on his BBC6 mix, Holger Czukay, Jah Wobble & Liebezeit – How Much Are They?
And here is an amazing cover of Can by Radiohead.
Radiohead – The Thief (Can Cover off, Delay 1968)
