Phoenix stopped by NPR’s World Cafe to play an acoustic 4 song set for the 100th time this year as well as a chat about each tune and their lives up to date. This maybe the same old same old in the blogosphere but it is oh so good.
I can’t stop listening to Villa’s remix of Music Go Music. Check out this amazing 30 min mix they crafted for Studio Brussels. It is a wonderful peek into their musical minds, a lot of random/great tracks and edits by them.
The legendary Todd Edwards crafted this mix of his own productions and remixes. Amazing stuff. Follow Todd on twitter @toddedwards3000 He is gonna be spinning at Flashing Lights @ 88 Palace on 12.4.2009 – be there to witness the godfather.
Strip Steve’s Delta Disco EP is amazing, it sounds like it should have came out on Roule. Crystal made this vid for “Breakin” – Pick up this EP if you do not have it yet!
What a weird dance pop tune. Reminds me of Mr. Oizo, especially those drums. I love Primary 1’s voice. His track with The Shoes is fantastic especially the Siriusmo remix. This obscure comedic funk is what dance music needs.
Raw Man a French Touch 1.0 and Crydamoure Records veteran rework Hey Champ’s latest pop tune “Neverest” off their album that will be released in Twenty-Ten. It is a straight-forward dance remix/edit, check it out below.
Jonathan Boulet is one of Modular Records newest acts, an Aussie singer/songwriter crafting lovely introspective pop tunes. Jimmy LaValle’s The Album Leaf, one of my favorite acts of the past ten years adds his signature glitched out, swarming synth touch to this already melancholy track. Beautiful. Jonathan Boulet’s album is out 12.4.2009 and The Album Leaf’s new album “A Chorus of Storytellers” is out 2.2.2010, oh joy!
Two weeks ago, Cazals announced that they were splitting to pursue each of their own musical endeavours. Daniel (lead guitar) is now pursuing Blank Space a new wave, guitar and synth driven solo project. Phil (singer) is no pursuing his own solo project he is hoping to launch in the new year. Warren and Luca C. are now part of the I Blame Coco’s live band – Coco Sumner’s (Sting’s Daughters) band. And as you all know Luca C. and Martin Dubka have been busy producing and co-writing Ali Love’s new solo album, an album I looking very forward to. It is very unfortunate that this great brit-rock band have split, a band that has been championed by Daft Punk, Andre, and Kitsune, just to name a few. I’m looking forward to all their future projects.
Luca C. has teamed up with Brigante to bring back that classic cosmic disco sound that electronic is in need of these days. The duo re-visions Ali Love’s “Diminishing Returns” as a cosmic italo acid track, 303 bassline included.
Ellie Goulding puts on her Kate Bush/Bjork hat for this sentimental, ballad of a tune. <3 u so much Ellie.
