The Hey Champ trio have emerged once again with the “Anything At All” EP which is out May 10. It is a collection of three songs that are sure to impress as they show off a matured and confident sound with the single “Anything At All”. They teamed up with Eliot James, the producer responsible for Two Door Cinema Club and Bloc Party’s tight production.
Just sit back and let the sounds of this epic Posi-Pop music wash over you. Just bathe in it…
The Hey Champ boys return with a 40 min Disco Pop mixtape that full of some smooth tracks. Check out their new hometown anthem of a track entitled “Silver City”.
Chicago Trio Hey Champ were recently invited to take part in remixing their friends Gemini Club’s new single “Ghost” as part of the run up to that group’s new album release. Hey Champ infused the single with their signature futuristic sound, taking a stellar original to a parallel dimension.
Gemini Club returned the favor with a frosty back room remix version of Hey Champs hit single “Cold Dust Girl”, from their recently released debut album Star. The record has been praised by the likes of Venus, Time Out Chicago, Pop Matters, and the Wall Street Journal for their “infectious synth pop”. They’re currently on tour showcasing material from the album with energetic performances that had even the most bashful crowds moving. “They brought the house down,” wrote the LA Weekly about a performance in Los Angeles last month. “Armed with only a synthesizer, drum kit, and guitar these guys have put together a debut album of well-crafted, ’80s tinged dance pop.”
July 13 marked the day Hey Champ released their sonic baby into the world – “Star”. A synth rock album with an emphasis on the rock. All the blog favorites are on the album, Cold Dust Girl and Neverest but my personal favorite is the title track “Star”. It is a lofty synth pop song that reminds of Joe Jackson’s “Steppin’ Out” meets ELO and the Buggles. Star feels like a galactic theme song for a Japanese space cowboy. Download and listen below…

Finally, Hey Champ’s debut album “Star” is coming out onTownie Records after a year or so of honing and crafting their futuristic synth pop rock sound. It is fresh from being mastered by Nilesh Patel from the Exchange in London and will definitely have a kick and pop to it. I had the pleasure of hearing the entire album and it is quite a journey – a synth pop rock and or roll odyssey. My personal favorite is the title track, “Star” a tune that sounds like The Buggles meets Devo and Sparks with a modern pop vibe and sensibility. This is America’s take on this whole hipster synth pop rock, but with a lot more atittude and American rock gusto. So take out your convertible, put on your denim jacket and wayfarers and get ready to drive around with your top down bumping this album.
Sign up to download “Neverest” a straightforward pop rock tune that reminds me The Police meets ELO circa “Time”. Also download some other tune called “Cold Dust Girl” 😉
We all know Hey Champ as that rock n’ roll trio from Chicago that has been making us dance for the year and a half with their single “Cold Dust Girl” so here is a what made them dance in 2009. And yes we all are still wondering when is the album coming out, Twenty-Ten is upon us so be ready for some epic dance rock. I strongly agree with all these albums/songs/remixes that they included in these lists. A personal fav track of mine “Gummiband” by Siriusmo will be making a appearance on my list as well.

You know the drill – Hey Champ remixes a fellow Midwestener adding their Americana Heartland disco touch to their track making it into some lovely ear candy. Consume and enjoy. Now when can we hear some new/original Hey Champ tracks?!
Hey Champ takes on the synth-pop blog kings Passion Pit’s “Little Secrets”. Pete sent me the unmastered version of this remix a month ago and I knew that it would be a blogosphere hit. I love the slick bassline and what they do to the chorus and the bridge. If you are lucky enough to be in Brazil make sure to check out Hey Champ as they play a few shows and DJ down south.
