Here is a latest recording of Justice’s DJ sets from Electric Proms this past weekend as they promote A Cross the Universe. Strictly old school house and filter disco. No Bangers!! Except for their own of course. They even drop Daft Punk’s Face to Face and Crescendolls. Check out an interview with them here on the BBC 6 The Queens show, here. Xavier explains that they are done with the live performances after playing over 150 live gigs and that they are DJing now with “a laptop and a few of their small machines”.
Mr. Flash steps into the mainstream hip hop producing world. Quite an interesting and lovely surprise ๐

Late Of the Pier were amazing live. They are quite a bunch of young energetic blokes that really know how to put on a show and the drummer is quite a beast. Bathroom Gurgle and Focker were highlights of their performance. They definitely left quite an impression on America. Stay tuned for a full review of Pete Tong Presents Insiders CMJ 2008 Showcase.
I am a big fan of Foamo and am excited to see what he has in store. Everyone has been dropping his tracks from Jean Nipon, The Bloody Beetroots (Bob Rifo called him the new Switch) , Congorock, and MSTRKRFT. I see him doing some big things in the next year or so.

Tomorrow is the day. One of the most hyped and most epic shows at CMJ this year. Soulwax, 2 Many DJ’s, Late Of The Pier, The Whip, Rob Da Bank, Luciano, James Lavalle, and Pete Tong, all in one venue, all in one night. Epic. I cannot wait. Stay tuned for full and thorough review of the crazy night to come!

So for the past few weeks I have been rocking out to Hey Champ’s “Cold Dust Girl” on repeat, such catchy pop goodness. Lupe Fiasco has been raving about them since they are a hometown Chicago act and recently signed them to his label 1st and 15th, another Ivy League Indie Rock band signed by a hip hop superstar.
I then stumbled upon Hey Champ DJs’ Retrosexual> and Electrosexual mixes that they released sometime this time last year. I fell in love with one of their original tracks, “Sugar Daddy” which has this old school French Touch sound, something that Le Knight Club would produce. Great use of samples and filters.
Here is another track by the band that has that Midnight Juggernauts synth feel but with a Depeche Mode/Duran Duran pop touch.
