Minus the Bear – Guns & Ammo

So here is a post by Asian Dan to remind everyone that there is more to music than just electro bangers. I feel like the electronic music scene is getting a little stale. I am on the quest now to find new music. Hey Champ, Jamie Lidell, Fleet Foxes & Jean Nipon have been in heavy rotation on my end.
Anyways I just found out that Minus the Bear released an Acoustic EP October 7. I shall be seeing them next week in Boston, I have seen them every year at least once these past 4 years. They are on tour now supporting their new Acoustic EP, here is a taste of their acoustic sound from their Daytrotter Session from this past summer. Definitely a new and different vibe for them.

Timbaland x The New Yorker

I stumbled upon this interesting article through, Music Thing on Timbaland and his prolific impact on music. Too bad his Chris Cornell collaboration sounds like Michael Bolton.
“When you hear a rhythm that is being played by an instrument you can’t identify but wish you owned, when you hear a song that refuses to make up its mind about its genre but compels you to move, or when you hear noises that you thought couldn’t find a comfortable place in a pop song, you are hearing Timbaland.”

Kavinsky’s touch reminds me of a chilled out Danger.

Boys Noize Records x Fairtilizer
“To celebrate the release of the label’s first compilation “BNR Vol. 1″, the king of party techno takes you on a tour of his stable, which notably includes Puzique, Shadow Dancer, DIM, Housemeister, Strip Steve, The Faint and Siriusmo.”

The Virgins – Rich Girls (The Twelves Remix)
Here is an interesting site that has the stems of “Rich Girls”. This beta version of U-Myx is like a mobile Ableton so you can make bangers anywhere and anytime online! Crazy!
Housse de Racket

Housse de Racket are a French pop rock duo in the vain of Phoenix meets the whole new Ivy Indie scene of Chester French (Harvard), Vampire Weekend (Columbia) & Hey Champ (Princeton). They are opening for a few Jamie Lidell dates in Europe. Gonzales remixed their single “Oh Yeah” turning it into a track that sounds like a soulful Daft Punk’s “Teachers”.

Justice Live in Rio: Live Setup

Will someone please get me a Lemur Pad? 🙂 Justice’s live setup has become quite elaborate, almost as cool as Daft Punk’s Moog-tastic setup. I am very excited about A Cross the Universe but I wonder what Justice has in store after. Was their Rio show really their last “live” show? Justice x Kanye collab on 808’s and Heartbreaks?
Treasure Fingers x Chromeo

Chromeo work their magic 80s pop touch to turn this Treasure Fingers’ disco tune into a Hall & Oates’ tinged track. Do the marshmallow and the electric slide. I can’t wait for the Chromeo remix of Vampire Weekend!
