A-Trak kills it with those strings. And that bassline! Slick.

T-Dot on the B-log! Represent. I miss Toronto and all the good food. Street meat, Sneak Dee’s Nachos, Greek food out on Danforth, and Craft Burger. Any Torontonians want to overnight me a Craft Spicy with Onion Rings? I will be in Toronto the first week of January so everyone be ready!

Gingy a 21 DJ/Producer from Toronto works his remix powers on 1/2 of Mansion, DJ Barletta’s “Bass Live”. Checkout his other track “Swagger”. I feel it.

Lykke Li x AutoErotique

AutoErotique was once known as VNDLSM, the banger-tastic Toronto duo that brought you those great remixes of Rihanna & Chaka Khan. Keith, 1/2 of AutoErotique sent me over this bootleg remix of Lykke Li’s “Little Bit”, good stuff. The duo was just recently signed to Mr. Aoki’s Dim Mak Records and will be releasing a new EP soon. Let’s see what these Torontonians have in store for the dance world.

Asian Dan Interview: Autoerotique

1. Who is Autoerotique? Why the name change from VNDLSM?
Autoerotique is Diet Dave & Keith Lite, they are the younger cousins of VND and his friend LSM

2. What is like to be part of the Toronto music scene?
Toronto is amazing in terms of music. We have so many amazing groups\acts breaking out, Thunder Heist, Nacho Lovers, Jokers of the Scene (Ottawa is close enough to toronto), of course MSTRKRFT & Deadmau5 to name a few.

“Every time I look into your eyes I see the future”

For all you Torontonians, this Thursday October 23, 2 Many DJ’s, Tiga, The Cool Kids, VNDLSM, Mario J and Nasty Nav will be killing it at the Toronto Island Airport as part of Fido’s Jet Session, a pretty crazy venue for a FREE show. Just text JET to 10987 and you are into the show.

Unfortunately I am stuck in Uhmericuh and will not be attending (But I will be seeing Soulwax/2 Many DJ’s and Late of the Pier on Fri in NYC). So everyone go for me and spread the Asian Dan love.

Here is a radio rip of Tiga’s latest track “The Future Mindimension” . This sounds so 90s UK Rave everything from the 303 basslines, 808 and 909 drum samples and the ridiculous vocal sample. I love it and am excited for his album.

THE RAPTURE DJS
YOU SAY PARTY! WE SAY DIE!
Wednesday, August 27, 2008
Burroughes Building (639 Queen St. W.)

Sessions and REMG Entertainment are proud to present You Say Party! We Say Die! live in concert with special guests the Rapture DJs at the Burroughes Building on Queen Street West on Wednesday, August 27.

After an incredible, and simultaneously tumultuous 2007, Vancouver’s own You Say Party! We Say Die! are back – in some form at least. While YSP!WSD! are busy working on songs for their next album, the band is very excited to announce the digital-only release of Remik’s Cube, reworkings of their critically-acclaimed 2007 sophomore release Lose All Time, set for release via Paper Bag Digital on August 26.

Remik’s Cube contains the expressions of the remixer’s interpretations of YSP!WSD! live show. When you walk in to the room at a YSP!WSD! show, the atmosphere is electric. Neon blinking on and off, too loud music, the momentum kicks you into DANSK-space. You can tell you arrived, before you even walked in. You absolutely have to stop and stare.

The Rapture were forerunners of the post-punk revival of the early 2000s, as they mixed their early post-punk sound with electronic and dance elements via their collaboration with the celebrated New York production team DFA. The band is currently making new music while multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Andruzzi and Matt Safer break out spinning tunes as The Rapture DJs. They’ve blown away crowds as far and wide as Santiago, Chile and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Rapture has a new song out right now called “No Sex For Ben” in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV.

Don’t miss this exclusive chance to catch You Say Party! We Say Die! live in concert along with special guests the Rapture DJs as part of Sessions.

Sébastien Tellier – Live @ The Mod Club – Toronto – 8.4.2008

Sébastien Tellier is so French. He is such a character. He posses a stage presence that is comedic yet somehow uber sexy. Those Europeans have it down. Sébastien Tellier’s show is over the top to the point that it is absurd. It was an emotional rollercoaster of pure pop bliss that oozed with sexuality to the saddest of love songs all laced with intertwining synth lines. Tellier showed the audience how much of Serge Gainsbourg every Frenchman posses. He kept the audience glued to him and his ridiculous cataract sunglasses, pink pants, and silver jacket. He is a fucking rockstar.

At first the show started off as pop as Justin Timberlake 🙂 with their great live rendition of Kilometer. Tellier’s band of 2 synth players and a drummer were so solid and segued into songs with ease. Divine highlighted how much of a show man Sebastien is with him jumping off stage and posing for photos in the audience. He is so absurd and comical that you cannot help but smile and laugh. After a few tunes off of Sexuality, the entire vibe of the show changes as the entire band goes into a tune called “Indians” (Any info on this?), it was an epic rocking tune that showed off how rock and roll Mr. Tellier could be. His drummer was especially amazing on this track. After being blown away by the epic musicianship Tellier sat behind the piano and went into a great rendition of Broadway.
Then came the tearjerker, La Ritournelle. In an interview with Tellier he describes La Ritournelle his closest he has come to perfection, “I have not reached that again. That song was written when I was in love with a girl who did not love me. That was a powerful state of emotions. That mix of happiness and sadness.” This is definitely one of the saddest things I have learned about this song, but it is still one of the most amazing songs I have heard in the past few years. The encore was Sexual Sportswear, his epic sounding tribute to Jean Michel Jarre. Since there are no vocals Tellier moaned and fondled the mic and mic stand for the audience. What an amazing and absurd show 🙂
