JFK from MSTRKRFT hatin’ on "Live Electronic" Musicians

JFK on the MSTRKRFT Message Board talking about Electronic musicians “playing live”.

MSTRKRFT Checks in from Studio – Pitchfork

“I guarantee you when this record is done and people have heard it, everyone will want to talk to us again. I think we’re actually going to do something different in a climate where everything sounds the same. That’s our goal. And we won’t rest! [laughs] Until our enemies are vanquished! [laughs] Oh, and everyone should go see Rambo.” – JFK

“when DJ falcon plays off ableton, its the most involved ableton setup ive ever seen… and ive seen everyones. everything was broken down to 2 bar sections and he was combining and mixing like, 4 things together at all times…. thats more involved than many ‘live’ setups, yet he calls it what it is… DJing. ?” – JFK

Alan Braxe & DJ Falcon Live @ The Viper Room LA

This is an amazing set by DJ Falcon mixing and mashing up songs into a musical pastiche. Take that Girl Talk.

Hercules & Love Affair – Blind

Hercules & Love Affair – Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix)
*Highly Recommended Download Now*

Frankie Knuckles uses his classic house magic touch to turn this song into a nostalgic hit. His boy Larry Levan would be proud.

BONNAROO 2008

Kanye, Metallica, and Mastodon might kill all the hippies’ good vibes. But I wouldn’t mind. All the kids on acid and shrooms will definitely enjoy Battles and Minus the Bear with their crazy math rock noise. Down with the hippies!

Lykke Li

This past weekend DJ David Day spun a set on Boston’s WERS 88.9 Revolutions and dropped the Chromatics’ Night Drive that segued into this track by Little Bit by Lykke Li a swedish pop singer with a very sweet, italo disco voice reminiscent of Donna Summer with her breathy falsetto. This track is so catchy. I also love the Balinese Gamelan sounding rhythm section.

Anthony Bourdain is so punk rock.

“Who knew Anthony Bourdain could rap? We didn’t. But recently, while in London Tony met up with the English band Morcheeba and had his chance at the mic.” Travel Channel: Anthony Bourdain

Morcheeba – Lisa (feat. Anthony Bourdain)

Anthony Bourdain is a punk rock, recovered heroin addict, who travels the world drinking and eating anything and everything. He is living the life.

Histrionics

Preview Scenario Rock’s new album Histrionics on their Myspace, out Feb 4! What a poppy smooth rock album. If they were around in the late 70s/early 80s they would be part of the Yacht Rock crew, rollin’ with Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, Hall & Oates and Michael McDonald.
