Stockhausen was a huge contributor to European Avant-Garde music and has had some lasting impact on todays musical landscape. Jonny Greenwood is a huge fan.

No wonder Sebastien Tellier is so musically inclined. His dad was in a 70s Euro Prog Rock band. Magma, a fusion spaz jazz prog rock band that reminds me of a Mahavishnu Orchestra with the rambling vocals of Damo Suzuki meets the crooner vocals of Bryan Ferry. The drummer is a tank and Zach Hill from Hella adores him.
Frantic Thom Yorke vocals, guitars tuned down to Drop-A, a hardcore drum part and heavy bass action. Oh Radiohead!!! This is my favorite track off of the Bonus CD from the boxset that everyone has been waiting for. This track is like Bodysnatchers taken to a new level. Radiohead is so badass.
1 1/4 cups butter or margarine, softened – 2 cups granulated sugar – 2 large eggs – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 2 cups all-purpose flour – 3/4 cup unsweetened baking cocoa – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350*F (175*C). In large mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 9 minutes. DO NOT over bake! Cookies will be soft. Cool slightly on cookie sheet; transfer from sheet onto wire rack to cool completely.
“LOTO is the coolest band in Portugal :), they are massive in the land of the “francesinha” (it’s a traditional portuguese dish…soooooo good) theirs latest CD “Beat Riot” is out now, and it include huge collaborations with a couple of big names, Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order) and Del Marquis (Scissor Sisters)..enough!? : )”
Checkout the original “Back to Disco”. Great synth part.
So my brother told me that Gossip Girl used Sebastien Tellier’s La Ritournelle (Mr. Dan’s Mix), in last nights epsiode “Blair Waldorf must Pie!”. I was very impressed to hear that and am now intrigued to watch the show since the music director, Alexandra Patsavas was also the music director for The OC. One my fav shows. The first 2 seasons were golden. Last week Gossip Girls used The Virgins throughout the episode furthering their indie cred.
Dirty, Sexy, Money is another show I should start watching since my love of my life, Samaire Armstrong is in it. They also played a great track a few episodes ago according to my brother. So many television shows to start watching since Weeds and Curb Your Enthusiasm are done for this season or even forever?!?
“We’ve been listening to a lot of European prog music and dubstep and dance and folk. A huge broad variety of things really. There’s one track we’ve been playing in soundcheck, it’s this massive prog opus.”
“We are already working on the next ‘prog doom’ album, we get bored very easily, I think our management wants us to make Thriller meets Dark Side of the Moon for album two.”
