2012 has been a busy and successful year for the man from down under brought to us via Stones Throw, Jonti. But this is no surprise, he was destined for success ever since he worked with Mark Ronson on his band Danimals a few years ago. This year finds Jonti on an extensive tour including opening up for Gotye on his North American tour. Jonti offers up his favorite tracks of 2012 along with some candid stories that each song soundtracked in his Life in 2012.
Everything bout this track is great. There is a truth and confusion of his surrounding’s that hits you over the head. I’ve listened to this nearly everyday since it’s release.
Until The Quiet Come’s was instantly my favorite Flying Lotus release of his career so far and thats saying something! Something about the tranquility and focus of it mixed with the bangers was something special to me. Im sure when everyones mind flipped when they heard this for the first time on the short film and saw the now famous accompanying dance. [Read more]

Sinjin Hawke has been making moves in 2012. He already proved to us all in 2011 that he can drop some proper and massive productions with his great Bootleg edits of The-Dream and Beyonce and his The Lights EP. 2012 found Sinjin Hawke trekking across North America DJing and debuting an impressive live set that he brought to LA’s Boiler Room and NYC’s Warm UP at MoMA PS1. We have much to look forward to from Sinjin Hawke in 2013 including a collaboration with Riton as well as new original music.
Sinjin Hawke names his Top 10 of 2012 which includes the fantastic EP from Cashmere Cat “Mirror Maru” and Miami’s own leader of the Raider Klan, SpaceGhostPurrp who will hopefully return from retirement from the rap game in 2013.

One of my favorite DJs of the year, Jackmaster unveils a 2 hour mix entitled, “Mastermix 2012” which is an ode to some of the finest tracks to come out in 2012. The mix opens with John Talabot’s “So Will Be Now” then just dives into the deep end with tracks like Joy Orbison’s massive edit of Donell Jones’ “U Know What’s Up”. Enjoy!
“I did it in New York when I was on a US tour recently. It started off quite happy and housey but the second half turned a bit darker as the hurricane hit. I was staying in my sister’s and luckily we didn’t lose any power, but over those few days there was nothing for me to do really except DJ, so I spent quite a lot of time on it making sure it was all in key – well, most of it – and coming up with some long blends with acapellas and stuff. It ended up quite a long one, almost two hours. There are some tracks in there that come in at almost 10 minutes which I let play out completely. A lot of people who’ve been following my previous mixes won’t be used to this. The good thing about doing a mix at the end of the year is the excuse to include some of your favourite tracks of that year, no matter if people think they’re redundant or whatever. There’s plenty of unreleased stuff though, and some that are 100% unheard anywhere else. I decided not to share a tracklist for this one. Not because I wanted to keep any of it secret, just because I don’t want the listener to know what’s coming next.” – Jackmaster
