Music Video : Bent Van Looy “My Escape”

Bent Van Looy, the frequent Soulwax collaborator and mastermind behind the Belgian power pop group, Das Pop is back with his solo music project. “My Escape” is the first single off his upcoming album “Pyjama Days” which he recorded together with Jason Falkner and showcases his 70s song writer side even more with elements of Randy Newman, Emit Rhodes, John Lennon and Jon Brion. “Pyjama Days” is out May 6.

Das Pop : The Game

Das Pop has been getting all mysterious with their viral The Black Juggler character which I assume is the title of their follow up to that over the top Pop album “Das Pop”. “The Game” is the first track to be heard off of this album – a tune that embraces all things 70s. It is a song that oozes strutting down the street swagger, it feels like a b-side by Queen that didn’t make the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Love the Led Zeppelin phaser-ed out drums at the end.

Das Pop – Try Again

The self-titled album by Das Pop is finally coming out 4.20.2009, produced by the Dewaele Brothers (Soulwax). It is pop rock goodness at its best. I love their artwork, it is so Pop Art. Ha.

Das Pop Myspace posted the official music video for Samantha Fu’s “Theme from Discotheque”, a moniker of the Dewaele Brothers. Classic track. Check it out after the jump.

Tahiti 80 & Yuksek

I just discovered Tahiti 80 and their French pop perfection in the vain of Phoenix, subtle electronics meets weaving pop melodies with solid soulful grooves.

Here is Tahiti 80’s biggest hit:
Tahiti 80 – Big Day
Here is a song that highlights Tahiti 80’s more soulful R&B side, my fav track of theirs.
Tahiti 80 – alloveragain
Tahiti 80 – Changes (Jaga Jazzist Remix)

ill remixes from the up and coming Yuksek.
Das Pop – Fool For Love (Yuksek Remix)

I am a Francophile

60s French Pop is amazing. From Serge Gainbourg and the Ye-Ye Girls of the 60s like Chantel Goya, France Gall & the woman of my dreams, Francoise Hardy ::swoon:: She had the most sophisticated voice and appeal out of all the 60s Ye-Ye Girls.

Air – Jeanne (feat. Francoise Hardy)

France Gall – Toi Que Je Veux

Das Pop – Underground

Some Beligian love:
Goose – Bring It On
