Tame Impala proves that playing guitar is still cool and that stoner guitar solos are acceptable (only if you double it with synth). All jokes aside, “Elephant” is the second tune from their sophomore album “Lonerism” that shows that The Black Keys are not the only guys that can make motorcycle jams and that fuzzed-out stoner, Pink Floyd bridges are still so badass \m/
Dan Snaith aka Caribou takes his other moniker, Daphni deeper into the dance/club world in hopes of countering the “EDM barfsplosion”. Armed with a modular synth that Snaith built himself he crafted this 9 track LP entitled “JIAOLONG”. “Ye Ye” is the latest track from the LP that delves deep into the roots of electronic club music.
“Set against the backdrop of bland and functional dance music and the mind-numbing predictability of the EDM barfsplosion currently gripping the corporate ravesters, there is a small world where dance music lives up to its potential to liberate, surprise, and innovate. It’s there that I hope Daphni has a place.”
JIAOLONG is out October 16 in the U.S. and Canada via Merge/Jiaolong, and October 9 digitally.
Bobby Champs brings a refreshing vibe and sound to the techno landscape with his latest EP, the “Drag Queen EP” out on Pictures Music on August 20. He follows in suit of Blawan’s deep, dark and apocalyptic techno vibes with a touch of Nautiluss’ house synth sounds. Listen to clips of the EP and a preview track “All Night”.

Flying Lotus teams up with Adult Swim’s fantastic singles series and enlists Earl Sweatshirt and Captain Murphy in the track “Between Friends”. It jazzy number that is propelled by a moody rhodes piano part and a lazy breakbeat that would make Stones Throw proud.

Kindness is lining up his next single which is the oh so over-the-top 90s RnB funk bomb “That’s Alright”. The full Kindness ensemble stepped into London’s famous Maida Vale and recorded this version for Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show which includes a live horn section that elevates the tune to a whole knew free-jazz fusion funk level.

Ghostly’s Shigeto enlists NYC’s Braille to rework his track “Field Day” into a extremely moody and good vibes summer jam. Simply put this tune on and enjoy 🙂
Montreal’s own Jacques Greene unleashes a new EP entitled, “Ready”. It is a three track release that delves into Jacques’ mutated House, Techno, and RnB world. The title track is a creeping pulsating song that is propelled by a syncopated ascending synth line. “Prism” is a subdued and deeper track that creates a moody vibe with its subtle chord progression. The digital bonus third track is a 2-step inspired track with tinges of RnB vocals that echo throughout the track a la Burial.
Yet another Emil & Friends cover/remix that borders being better than the original track. This time Emil takes on Body Language’s RnB jammy jam, “You Can” which delves deeper into that slinky balearic RnB zone. D’Angelo watch out, there is a new set of abs in town.
“This original body language song is a sparkler, that is for sure. When I sit down and try to put a spin on a song that means a lot to me, it is either easy as pie or painstakingly difficult to accomplish. This one just bubbled up nice and quick. I wanted to take the song, slow it down, give it a hall and oates meets the xx meets junior boys meets bon iver meets aeroplane vibe. I listened to a lot of Kind of Blue- by miles davis, when mixing the track which got me in the mood to really remove all the arbitrary elements and stick with the low-fat simplistic approach. Simple defines sex in music, especially when you slow things down to bed-creaking tempos like this. Those who I define as sexy seem to bite their lower lip to this cover, which is all I wanted to accomplish. You Can, but you won’t. Well I kind of just did, and I’ll do it again. Props to the Body Language kids, get psyched for their new music.” – Emil
The french quartet, Club Cheval’s collaboration “Now U Realize” manifests itself in a the form of a mutant rave super creature in this quirky little music video. They definitely went for the “primal, heading for cosmic” vibe in this clip.
