Collarbones’ sophomore album “Die Young” is out September 28, “Hypothermia” is the 2nd single from the album that is a hyper emotional rave track. The duo brands this track “Internet Rave” – a suitable term for this track with its borrowed nostalgia for 90s rave breaks and emo vocals. This is some serious #REAL #FEELS, prepare yourself for this Internet Rave and take a big hit of this .mp3….
The young Glasgow based Koreless strips down How To Dress Well’s “Cold Nites” into introspective track that is fueled by a churning music box melody. The heavy hearted lyrics and vocal melodies are lifted up and carried down the cascading chimes. Be sure to catch Koreless opening for SBTRKT with Kilo Kish at Terminal 5 in NYC, October 11.
Toronto’s own Nautiluss offers up a free track entitled “Elysium”. It is a sunshine soaked tune that gains momentum from its bouncy kick and lofty snare rolls all before some sweet bell tone synths wash over you. This is a top choice summer tune, so find a body of water to lie next and put on this song.
Foals’ synthmaster, Ed Congreave has debuted a new solo dance tune of his entitled “Heal” out on Deep Shit. It is a deep UK house track that digs deep into the vibes that will keep you moving. “Heal” is definitely a track that you want to play out completely to ensure full out vibing. Like Deep Shit on FB to get a free download of “Heal”.
Toro y Moi returns with his dance moniker, Les Sins, this time on Caribou’s Dan Snaith’s JIAOLONG Records. “Fetch” and “Taken” both dive into Toro y Moi’s own version of deep house vibes. They are both tasteful and dancefloor worthy tracks with synth stabs that will keep you moving.
The lovely ParAsian, Miss ChChChen returns with a summer mixtape entitled “GIRLS & GOLD” in honor of all things summer. This 60 minute selection of tracks will help bring the summer to a proper close. The-Dream “Dope Bitch” into Rick Ross “3 Kings” into Redinho “Stay Together” is definitely a highlight of the mix. Also closing with Bibio “All The Flowers” is a lovely segue into the upcoming autumnal tones. Enjoy.
Airhead readies his second release, “Pyramid Lake” on R&S Records which is a total flip from his previous Yeah Yeah Yeahs sampling release “Wait”. “Pyramid Lake” is propelled by a sluggish dub groove with a heavily chopped up sample that will suck you into its hypnotic vibes.
Fly Lo slips into his jazzy acoustic side with the help of Erykah Badu on “See Thru To U” off his upcoming album “Until the Quiet Comes” out Oct 2 on Warp. Look for more cameos on the album from Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Thundercat, Niki Randa, and Laura Darlington.
King Krule debuts a new single “Rock Bottom” which taps into his deep crooner side. I don’t know nor understand how this young fellow can sound like he has been through so much but he is just able to channel that “been though some tough times” vibes in all his music. The 13 year old middle school jazz band musician in me is so drawn to this track with all its minor 7th chords. Also the tasteful use of the “Amen Break” really touches my early IDM side.
