Hudson Mohawke “Satin Panthers” EP Full Stream

Hands down I can say that Hudson Mohawke has produced one of the best releases of 2011. This EP that clocks in just over 15 mins is the most cohesive release that HudMo has put out and could be a game changer for him. The third track “CBat” is definitely a crowd pleaser.

Rustie : Glass Swords

Rustie is Warp Records’ secret weapon with his productions that bend genres and distort your perceptions of electronic music. Rustie’s last release, the “Sunburst EP” showed the world raging guitar solos work next to hip-hop beats. I expect more of that on his full-length “Glass Swords” which is out 10.11.2011 on Warp – here is snippet of the title track “Glass Swords”, guitar solo included.

Hudson Mohawke : Thunder Bay

Hudson Mohawke is back with some grimey/hood beats by way of Glasgow. He is a mutated bastard child of R&B and bizarre club music and this time he is bringing it even harder. His new EP, “Satin Panther” will be out August 1 on Warp Records. It is only a matter of time before Hudmo is producing tracks for Beyonce. FYI I still think Hudson Mohawke “Fuse” & “Rising 5” are two of the best tracks produced in the last few years.

Clark : ‘Phrenic’ MPC DJ Mix

Warp’s own Clark crafted this DJ mix for BBC a few weeks ago. It is yet another great example of Warp’s quality of artists and what we all can look forward to from them and their top-notch roster. I love what Clark does to Dorian Concept’s “Trilingual Sex Experience”.

Bibio “Mind Bokeh” Sampler

I have been listening to this just over a minute sampler of Bibio’s upcoming album “Mind Bokeh” for the past week and a half. I have probably listened to it about 50 times. I have tweeted and posted it on Facebook enough to declare it my album of 2011 even though this is the only bit of the album I have heard. It is every element of Bibio turned up to 11 – from his amazing beat-making, his lo-fi found sound experiments, his beautiful jazz/classical guitar all mixed and blurred with his amazing grasp of Pop music.

Out March 28 in the US and April 4 worldwide on Warp Records.

Brian Eno – 2 Forms of Anger

This is the first track to be heard off of the highly anticipated Brian Eno release on Warp Records entitled ” Small Craft On A Milk Sea”. By the sounds of this track it sounds like it is the perfect label and venue for Brian Eno to be releasing a this music. It is a tribal cacophony that could only originate from a mind such as Mr. Eno. The feedbacking guitars sound like he is ripping the strings off of his guitar.

Gonjasufi x Bibio

Bibio is on a serious roll with his latest remix, first with that great remix of Neon Indian and now this remix of fellow Warp Records label mate, Gonjasufi. This release is off “The Caliph’s Tea Party” a remix album of Gonjasufi’s psychedelic tracks. Bibio really taps into his electronic beat making side with a heavy Rhodes driven section with some lovely drum machine patterns that compliment Gonjasufi’s shaman-esque voice. The second half of the track is a whole other story with a heavy synth/slap bassline and echoing snare along side some funky guitar chords that just dominates and causes you to bow down at the greatness that is Bibio.

Squarepusher presents Shobaleader One: d’Demonstrator

UMM WHAT?! This is an official mind explosion. Squarepusher steps up his game by incorporating a serious LED-Helmet a la Daft Punk and from the looks and sound of that 1 min clip it is an epic dance funk explosion. Warp Records is seriously back in the game with that forthcoming Brian Eno release and this new Squarepusher LP which solidifies his place in my mind as a crucial electronic music producer of our time. “Shobaleader One: d’Demonstrator” is out October 18/19. Exciting music this fall!

Check out Squarepusher.net for more info on the release.

Jamie Lidell – Compass

Wow. This is the music Jamie Lidell was destined to make. He proved himself a master of the crazy electronic world, by crafting his own synth programs in with Max/MSP. Now is fully blossoming into the singer/songwriter that he really is, it is totally understandable why Elton John asked him to open for him this past summer in the UK. This new song “Compass” reminds me of Feist, a common collaborator with Mr. Lidell and Gonzales – especially with the guitars and the production. I really hope that Gonzales is involved with Jamie’s upcoming album.
