Coachella 2008 Line Up

Tickets go on sale Jan 25 10 am, through Ticketmaster. This years Coachella is dominated by Ed Banger and their gang of electronic musicians, might as well call this I Love Techno Festival: American Edition. I would definitely go for Midnight Juggernauts, Battles, and Minus The Bear on the first day, Kraftwerk, Boys Noize, Surkin, Para One, SebastiAn and Kavinsky on the second, and Justice, Chromeo, Les Savy Fav, and Holy Fuck on the third.

Thom Yorke played this track on during their Radio 1 takeover, he said this is a track you play when you wake up to a beautiful day.

These New Puritans

I was listening to the Klaxons Radio 1 takeover last night and I really liked the track they played by These New Puritans, a fellow English band that is on their old label Angular Records. They even opened for the Klaxons on a past UK tour. Their music is likened to The Fall because of the very Mark E. Smith vocals but I’m sure singer, Jack Barnett does not beat his wife. Jack’s brother George use to be a model for Dior Homme and These New Puritans were commissioned by Dior to make a soundtrack for their recent runway show. A lot of their music reminds me of Blonde Redhead, circa In An Expression of the Inexpressible. Beat Pyramid comes out Jan 28 on Angular Records/Domino Records, and I really hope they tour the US soon.

Here is the track Klaxons spun on Radio1:

Sébastien Tellier – Divine

I love this photo. I can’t get enough of it.

Here is another new track from the Sébastien Tellier/Guy-Man collaboration album Sexuality, it is totally different from the other two tracks I’ve heard from the album. It has a 60s pop vibe through the eyes of the 80s. It actually reminds of Todd Rundgren’s A Capella album he made in the early 90s with just a Fairfield synthesizer and his voice.

Sébastien Tellier – Divine
Tellier calls this song “a tribute to the Beach Boys and the Juicy Fruits(from the 1974 musical Phantom of the Paradise). It’s about a time of innocence – when having fun was more important than picking up girls.”
