2008 is coming to a close. It was quite an eventful and exciting musical year. So many great tracks, albums, and remixes by new and old artists and so much music to look forward to in 2009. It is now that time for the obligatory Top 10’s of 2008. I am featuring Asian Dan’s Top 10 Tracks, Albums, Remixes, and Shows of 2008. Wow. That is all I got to say. There are quite a few pop moments on this album. The first track totally reminds me of the Andre 3000 produced John Legend’s track “Green Light”. Andre 3000 is very public about his love for Squarepusher. Once again good job Mr. Jenkinson. For some reason I feel like the next Daft Punk album will be moving in this direction. The Daft duo are also big fans of Squarepusher, they put “Do You Know Squarepusher?” on a playlist they curated last year.
PS. I totally forgot that Asian Dan is 1 years old. It’s birthday was 3 days ago on the 14th, I just have been busy with school I totally forgot. Thank You all for reading and supporting Asian Dan. I cannot believe how far this blog has come in a year. I have met and made so many friends on the interwebs as well in the real world 🙂 Thank You to all the artists that have made mixes for Asian Dan like NT89, Luca C, Jean Nipon, Luck On Strike, Neon Coyote and Astrolabe. My name is Kurtech, I live in a small town two hours away from Melbourne. I started making music when i was given the role of Musical director for my media classes end of year film. The tracks that I made were very simple. After doing the movie, I enjoyed it, and I started spending my lunchtime in the media room using the computers. I ended up getting a copy of Ableton live and I took it home to practice. I am still learning!

2. You said that you never played a real instrument, so how do you know what “sounds good”? Who are your big influences?
I never really know if something sounded good or not. I used to show my tracks to my friends and get their opinions. I have a lot of influences. They vary from Daft punk to Iron Maiden.

3. What are some artists/albums you are listening to lately?
Lately I have been listening to a lot of Cameo. Last album I listened to was Reality Check from the Teenagers.

4. What are your top 5 favorite tracks that make you dance?
Top 5 tracks that made me dance? Haha I never dance man. Here are some of my favorites though…
