Kindness : SEOD

The mysterious Kindness from the UK has release yet another slithery disco tune entitled “SEOD”. This tune will be out in January as a White Label release before Kindness unleashes his full length album next year which was co-produced by Philippe Zdar. “SEOD” is a slinky dark disco tune that is part space journey and part trip into your third eye via some sexy lead guitar and bellowing sax. Will Kindness be the Arthur Russell of 2012? I hope so.

Music Video : The 2 Bears “Work”

A super UK sounding and feeling of a track by the side project of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Raf Daddy. Massif proper choonz! Innit?!

Miike Snow : Devil’s Work

The intellectual-Popsters known as Miike Snow have returned with a new track entitled “Devil’s Work”. The only way I can describe it is as a track you would hear at the end of a movie as the end credits just kick in. Syncopated piano chord stabs propel the song while a sneaky snare roll keeps Andrew Wyatt’s vocals a float. Oh and just wait for the horn section that act as a reminder of how epic/cinematic Miike Snow can be.

Chairlift : Met Before

Chairlift channels some serious Broadcast, Stereolab, and Cocteau Twins vibes on their new tune “Met Before”. Quite a straightforward and fun tune propelled by big toms and swirling synths.

Music Video : Fort Lean “Beach Holiday”

I will be honest and say that Fort Lean is my favorite band of 2011 and all they have released was a free 4 track EP. I have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with them twice this year while playing with Emil & Friends and they always impress me. I always end up singing along to their songs in the crowd. Their latest video for “Beach Holiday” shows what a LOLzy band they are. Pure fun tunes. Looking forward to their future releases and more sing alongs.

Mickey Moonlight : Promo Mixtape (Part 2)

Mickey Moonlight’s debut LP is out today on Ed Banger entitled “And The Time Axis Manipulation Corporation”. Mr. Moonlight has proven himself to be the most eccentric and versatile of the Ed Banger posse with his extreme musical tastes and eclectic DJ sets. He is capable of destroying dancefloors with mixes like this but is also to woo you into a trance with very introspective songs, so I expect his LP to fall somewhere in between – with his take on some psychedelic-hypnotic-disco-house that will move minds, hearts and feet all at once.

Mickey Moonlight crafted this Promo Mixtape (Part 2) as the antithesis to his club sets. Instead he throws in everything from Arthur Russell to clips from Twin Peaks to a synth cover of “Claire de Lune” to psychedlic-cheese-party-funk. So prepare yourself to be taken on a sci-fi sonic trip.

Asian Dan Q&A : Brodinski introduces Bromance Records

We always are looking for the perfect soundtrack to our Bromances. Pause. But search no more for Bromance Records is upon us. Brodinski is one of the founding fathers of Bromance Records. Brodinski and Gessaffelstein just released the label’s debut release which is a split single of massive techno proportions. Give a listen to both tracks below and check out what Brodinski has to say about why he started this adventure known as Bromance Records.

Asian Dan Q&A : Brodinsiki introduces Bromance Records

Who is Bromance Records?

Bromance Records started with a collaboration between Manu Barron (CEO Of Savoir Faire Company, including also Paris Social Club) and myself. All with a perfect team of talented people behind us.

Why start a Bromance/label these days?

It’s cool to actually have the possibility to release stuff you love, from People you care about. It’s not only about music on Bromance, it’s also about Friendship. We had the opportunity to create something different and exciting, so we did it!

What makes a perfect Bromance? Pause.

Hahah, I will say that work and friendship together are getting along pretty well most of the times, and this is exactly what I live since the beginning of my own career. Working with people I love and who are also really talented. The atmosphere of the label will always stay around this kind of relationships -I hope so!

Techno seems to be the element of a good Bromance – what kind of records will we expect from the Bromance team?

It’s not just about techno music, it’s also about music we want people to hear. The next project will be Gucci Vump, which is one of my side project with Guillaume Briere from The Shoes. It’s gonna be a mixtape for the internet including beats we did this year, inspired by Dj Screw and the whole Southern Rap Scene. So we will try to give people the choice, and not only give them club music.

Lee Scratch Perry x Bullion

Bullion dives into Malcolm McLaren world with his remix of the iconic Lee Scratch Perry. In a matter of 4 mins Bullion is able to take Lee Scratch Perry’s tune “Straight Jacketed” on a sonic journey as it is deconstructed and pieced back together in a reverb soaked groove. Definitely an appropriate pairing for musical minds.

La Blogotheque : Saul Williams in Paris Catacombs

In 2003 I had the pleasure of witnessing the one man force that is Saul Williams. I was skeptical of seeing a solo spoken-word set as an opener for the Mars Volta, a very bold and questionable choice by the band. But as soon as Saul began his set everyone was focused and brought into Saul’s universe through his words. After that show I was definitely a fan. I haven’t been keeping up with Saul’s work over the past few years but I would always see his name pop-up next to Trent Reznor and Zach Del La Rocha’s names, proving that he is definitely on his way up. This year I found out that my buddy, David aka Tahiti Boy is currently playing keys/synth for Saul Williams’ live band so I’ve been following Mr. Williams more than usual. This weekend I stumbled upon this La Blogotheque video, an amazing 30 min video that captures Saul William performing in Paris’ Catacombs. I was surprised how dark and deep he has become with his music, these stripped down performances remind me a lot of Joy Division but maybe it could just be the dark catacombs that make me think of Ian Curtis.

“Saul Williams came to us. He wanted to be filmed in Paris Catacombs. Not the official, clean ones. He wanted to go in the dirty, tough, cold and humid network of underground corridors. He thought we might be crazy enough to accept the challenge. We were crazy enough.” – La Blogotheque

Azealia Banks x Machinedrum

Machinedrum works his magic on the latest bloghaus diva, Azealia Banks. This Nicki Minaj of the blogosphere is taking over the web with her single “212” and now with her latest track “P-U-S-S-Y”. Machinedrum takes a more straightforward Hip-Hop approach to this remix with some serious synth stabs and marching snare beats. Definitely a body moving crowd pleaser.
