Can’t wait to see DJ Mehdi spin on NYE in LA with A-Trak and Boys Noize. Dance.
“In the spirit of the season, I prepared this little mix for your Christmas pleasure. It’s nothing too fancy, just some of those 09 tracks, mixed and recorded at home, while dancing with my CDJ’s. Starts quite smoothly and gets harder towards the end, just like I like it.” – DJ Mehdi

Mr. LaValle returns with another introspective tune that he mixed once again in Iceland. He channels the innocence and purity that the Iceland emits from its steamy hot springs and comes up with “Falling from the Sun”. With heavier glitched out beats than usual and his vocals that he knows are not perfect, he still wins me over. I’m looking forward to “A Chorus of Storytellers” out 2.2.2010

I think Van She did an amazing job covering such a cult classic of a tune now Holy Ghost! reworks this tune into a slow burner of a disco tune. Rejoice there is a cowbell in this version!
Mr. Shuttle adds his touches of dubstep to Brooklyn’s own Body Language turning “Work This City” into a what I like to call a “pop-step” tune. I feel it. The vocals are very XX sounding and the basslines are big but not obnoxious. Bump it on your computer speakers or out in the club. Your choice, they both do it justice.
Late of the Pier strikes back with the help of Mr. Alkan once again to round out 2009 with a perfect pop tune. Just wait for when that first verse kicks in. It is a breathe of fresh air and a sign that good songwriting still exists and that Late of the Pier will fuck shit up once again. It is a tune that swirls through the decades of pop music, first stopping off in the 60s, paying homage to Late of the Pier’s weird psychedelic roots with a chorus which gives nod to britpop’s finest then next comes a very 70s/80s synth inspired 2nd verse that reminds me of something Sparks would come up with. The song ends in a fury of detuned guitars that blast off into the future – a place where Late of the Pier reigns supreme. “Blueberry” is up for download now on iTunes, Beatport, and Juno. But a lovely 12″ shall be out in early Twenty-Ten with the B-side “Best in The Class” – check out a live studio session of that tune after the jump. Pop goodness.
Love this remix by Joakim. A great spacey disco house tune, I especially love it when those horn samples kick in the middle. Friendly Fires have definitely grown on me especially with “Kiss of Life”, looking forward to new music from them. Also remember, “one day we’ll live in Paris…”
Fare Soldi in Italian means “Make Money” – and this tune definitely is money. I love that vocal sample, it sounds like something Cassius would use and when that bassline kicks in, 0o0o0 wee – reminds me a bit of Siriusmo. It is the perfect blend of italo disco, acid, and house.
I felt that Crookers kind of fell off for a bit but this epic tune that you have all been waiting for is now here. Crookers feat. Soulwax & Mixhell “We Love Animals”. Honestly it sounds like Soulwax did all the production worker with all their signature synth sounds 🙂
