It’s official. The 90s is back and it is somehow awesome sounding. Germany’s own Tensnake transforms the dark and weird house track, “Reckless (With Your Love) by Azari & III into a soulful and empowering 90s track a la Des’ree “You Gotta Be” meets Snap “I Got The Power” (Just wait till the end). Massive remix and massive talent courtesy of Tensnake and Azari & III, one of the top remixes of 2010.
Jai Paul works his magic on Icelandic singer/songwriter, Emiliana Torrini. Churning out a remix that clocks in at 2:24 mins yet is packed with bubbling and twinkling synths along side big ass bass drums.
What is your deal Jail Paul? When are we going to get more music from you?! Is this going to be your first release, Bait One EP?
My favorite Aussie band Van She is in NYC this week to play a few DJ gigs at Santos tomorrow night, 5.6.2010 and on an amazing bill at Brooklyn Bowl with Penguin Prison, Sat 5.8.2010. Cannot wait.
Ratatat returns this summer with their apocalyptic rock sound via “LP4”. A collection of tunes that were written and recorded at the same time as LP3, so there is already a precedent set that these are just a collection of B-sides that didn’t make the cut for LP3. With that in mind there is still a lot of that jungley/tribal vibe sprinkled throughout this record. “Neckbrace” embraces the closest thing to vocals you will have on a Ratatat tune, a gutteral sampled and chopped sort of beatbox bassline a la Rahzel on Bjork’s album “Medulla”.
<3 Ratatat but I want bigger and more \m/ guitars ;)

Ratatat – Neckbrace
Just stumbled upon Kisses on Transparent, my fav blog turned IRL label. Kisses are a Lost Angeles based duo that combine a chillwave Balearic disco aesthetic with Morrissey sounding vocals. The Whitest Boy Alive meets Washed Out. Summery, lofty, and fleeting – just like chillwave.
Midnight Juggernauts return to this forever changing synth laden musical landscape with a futuristic sound that has been dipped in 60s psychedelia. They channel Giorgio Moroder but thinkGiorgio Moroder “Tears” pre-sequenced basslines. More organs and mellotrons than digital sounding synths. And more stoner/shoegaze guitars. Overall Midnight Juggenauts showcases how they are still a band that are out to explore and highlight their organic songwriting/musical side. “The Crystal Axis” is set to penetrate our psyches 5.28.2010.
Checkout the first single off the album “Vital Signs” and the B-side “Get Connected”.
Holy Ghost! has finally emerged with a new reworking of LCD Soundsystem’s latest single “Drunk Girls”, an 80s disco synth track that evokes memories of New Order. This track has been released all in time for the start of the LCD Soundsystem and Holy Ghost! tour where Holy Ghost! shall be debuting their live full band version of the project. I am hoping it is a massive disco undertaking with members surrounded by multiple synthesizers, twisting and tweaking in order to make the finest analog dance music to hit dancefloors in quite a while. Check out holyghostnyc.com for more info.
Their new EP “Static On The Wire” will be out on May 18 on DFA featuring the title track, “Static on the Wire” which features Penguin Prison providing back up vox. Also the slowburner disco tune “Say My Name” is on this EP which was also featured on the latest Kitsune Maison Compilation 9. I love the Barbara Kruger inspired artwork.
Jean Nipon strikes back with yet another 30 min mix exclusively made for Belgium’s own Party Harders. Jean Nipon needs to make monthly mixes to keep us all entertained – always the finest track selection and mixing.
