Gaspard Augé aka 1/2 of Justice emerges with this new remix for Myd’s super fun pop rock song, “Moving Men”. This is a hint at Gaspard’s soon to be released solo album on Ed Banger entitled “Escapades”. His remix includes all the regal and expensive chord changes that you would expect from Justice and their love for 70s prog and pop.
The Bootyspoon goes in with surgical precision on this remix of Jessy Lanza “Like Fire” with minimal yet effective drum production. He ramps up the BPM of the original turning the track into a proper booty bouncer. I would expect nothing less from Martyn.
Tiga offers up a deep and euphoric release that pays tribute to the late great Zdar. On “Colours so Bright” Tiga proclaims how he shall “take the all darkness and turn into colours so bright” – a perfect mantra we should all abide by as we move out of 2020. “October Trance Song” taps into his deep trance roots and does not disappoint – one day we shall all feel this euphoria together again.
I’ve always had a feeling that everyone was a secret Deftones fan, they were an untapped well of inspiration and a band always ahead of the curve. It is a lovely surprise to see Chino tapped by Caroline and Toro for this remix. Somehow Caroline, Chaz and Chino have become the Postal Service of 2020 with this track.
Soulwax presents an ode to the dancefloors we all once inhabited. A love letter to the nights we forgot but long to remember once again. We will return one day and fill these empty dancefloors…
The LuckyMe family is back with their 2020 Advent Calendar. Jacques Greene kicks off the 12 day compilation with with this meditative and introspective intro tune “Thaw” – download it over at bandcamp now where proceeds of the track will go to The Extinction Rebellion Global Relief Fund.
“For this years Advent we asked the crew to consider the theme of “utopia”, and what it means to leave 2020 behind. Once the smoke settles, there will be new growth. What does that sound like?” – LuckyMe
The Pinoy Prince is back. Jeff Donna’s latest EP “Don With the Wind” proves that time truly does reap fruitful music. His laser focus return features hi lyrical acrobatics over slick productions that all hit extremely hard. Queens is back!
Redinho is back with a brand new album. Six years after his amazingly funky self-titled album – I still listen to “Stay Together” to this day. “Sunnyvale” is an ode to the 80s with elements of Art of Noise mixed with echoes of vaporwave and fun filter house production. It is a carefree and laidback funk. “Hellacious” is my favorite track which taps into a Mr. Oizo energy and spirit.
We live in a world where Soulwax Nite Versions is 15 years old. Wow. To celebrate Soulwax is releasing a commemorative vinyl which includes this 14 minute version of “NY Lipps” that they made for a Dries Van Noten runway show. The juxtaposition of the addition of Nancy Whang reciting an Oscar Wilde poem throughout the song is perfect.
