black midi : Cruising
black midi unveils an expansive and woodsy song that feels like an extremely slow sunset that you are chasing and is holding onto the horizon to the very last moment. I wish this track made the cut on their album.
black midi : Chondromalacia Patella
A distilled version of classic black midi as they embrace their angular noise roots along with their very sweet and pretty jazz sensibility.
black midi : Slow
What a beautiful and mad exercise in imagination and insanity.
black midi is the most exciting modern band. Period.
black midi : John L + Despair
The always angular, jarring and chaotic black midi unveils two new tracks from their upcoming album “Cavalcode”. “John L” is everything you expect from the band with its tight syncopation and unison performance that stops on a dime. The accompanying music video is “a jet black comedy about what happens to cult leaders when their followers turn on them.” It is directed by the choreographer Nina McNeely who worked on Gaspar Noe’s “Climax”. “Despair” is an unexpected ballad that showcases a sweeter and harmonic side of the band – King Krule would approve. And of course the artwork is done by the one and only David Rudnick.
