Ali Love’s next single is “Love Harder” that that summons the likes of Vangelis, Prince, Jan Hammer and Depeche Mode. A dark love tune that evokes the images of neon lights reflecting on a wet pavement city street. The chorus reminds me of the Giorgio Moroder produced Freddie Mercury tune “Love Kills”. Bravo once again Mr. Dubka & co.
In case you don’t know for NYE in LA people here go HARD. 2010 was brought in with a bang courtesy of Destructo, DJ Mehdi, A-Trak, and Boys Noize at the Hollywood Palladium. Here is a sneak peak of the epic confetti and champagne that went down. Backstage was a whole other story – full of drunken antics, hummus (courtesy of A-Trak), and fruit platters (courtesy of Boys Noize), but that is all I can say for now.
Some new smooth electro pop goodness from Allure feat the singer of Fancy Toys, Mickaël Téo. I especially like the guitar part in the tune.

SebastiAn strikes back with “Threndoy” off of a limited Xmas present from the Ed Banger family. SebastiAn channels his Schoenberg, Stockhausen and of course Krzysztof Penderecki with this sample of his “Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima” with an 11 min intro of just rising tones and disjointed cacophany that is a huge fuck you to everyone. Finally it kicks into a usual SebastiAN banger moment for only 2 mins or so but it is oh so good.

Twenty-Ten is here and here is some exciting new music from one of my favorite labels of all time, Warp Records. These are some tracks off a new compilation entitled “2010 From Warp Records” – Nice Nice is a Portland, Oregon based duo band and Gonjasufi is a California artist who has gotten a little help from a fellow Californian producer, Flying Lotus. Check out and download these tracks below and head over to warp.net another new track by The Hundred In The Hands
Buy the new compilation on bleep.com to hear some new tracks by Flying Lotus, Pivot, and Hudson Mohawke.
Tis a new year and time for new music. I hope all your NYE were nuts – I was at Hard Fest in LA where DJ Mehdi, A-Trak and Boys Noize killed it. Be on the lookout for vids and photos on mediacontender.com that EIKNARF and I took.
DJ Daruma from the ROC STAR crew in Tokyo sent me this new track and video by the DEXPISTOLS. He ended the email with this – “We think next is the Asians turn in the electronic/dance music scene.” I totally agree 🙂

It is the end of a decade, the first ten years of the 21st century gone in a flash. There were too many album, too many tracks, too many remixes – just too much music that has come and gone, while some have made a huge impact on music and the future of the industry. I can’t rank these albums and I know most of you won’t really agree with these so please take these with a grain of salt. Here are my personal top 20 albums of the past decade that I feel have had a lasting effect on the music industry and are close to my heart. Here’s to a new year and a new decade, Twenty-ten!

After the jump, what I consider to be the song of the decade – a bold choice if you will..
Boston’s own Shuttle has been making quite big moves this year with his little band, Passion Pit but his remixes of acts such as Phoenix have been showing how versatile of a musician and producer he is. His style of dubstep is not your typical wonky basslines, but his music is sound is definitely HUGE in a good way. I could not get enough of his remix of Phoenix’s “Love Like a Sunset” and his recent remix of Body Language’s “Work This City” is quite a catchy one. I love that he included one of my favorite remixes of the year, Joy Orbison’s remix of Four Tet – a massive talent that Nate and I have talked about numerous times.
Be sure to catch him at Webster Hall 1.8.2010 with Holy Ghost! and Classixx to witness his DJing magic. What Shuttle has in store for Twenty-Ten, who knows, maybe a remix of Lady Gaga & Beyonce or a remix of P Diddy featuring Biggieor maybe even finally a mix for Asian Dan…who knows?
