Love this remix by Joakim. A great spacey disco house tune, I especially love it when those horn samples kick in the middle. Friendly Fires have definitely grown on me especially with “Kiss of Life”, looking forward to new music from them. Also remember, “one day we’ll live in Paris…”
Fare Soldi in Italian means “Make Money” – and this tune definitely is money. I love that vocal sample, it sounds like something Cassius would use and when that bassline kicks in, 0o0o0 wee – reminds me a bit of Siriusmo. It is the perfect blend of italo disco, acid, and house.
The Belgian Trio Villa has hooked Asian Dan up with an hour long mix as well as answering some questions. Both shed some light on their disco/italo sound. I still can’t stop listening to their remix of Music Go Music.

Asian Dan Interview: VILLA
1. Who is Villa?
Villa is what you get if you lock two crazy djs with an even bigger studio freak in a studio packed with synths. A trio comprising of DJ duo Fredo & Thang & composer/producer Seba. Hailing from Ghent/Belgium they have been very active as DJ’s & producers over the last 10 years.
2. How would you describe your music?
While wanting to make people dance, we like to think we try to ensure that the listener gets his portion of contentfull music (whatever that is…). We stribe towards a more universal sound with a distinct personality that inspires people of all ages and genres…From haunting basslines and hypnotic leads to sugarsweet string arrangements and pop chord progressions…Inside VillA anything is possible…as long as it works for all of us… Setup wise the VillA sound is a blend of Vintage rare synths/processors and flee-market treasury..
3. What is your first musical memory?
Abba…Every morning on the road to school in the neighbours yellow MG…Queen…killed that best of tape…Eurythmics…Still in love with Annie Lennox…
I felt that Crookers kind of fell off for a bit but this epic tune that you have all been waiting for is now here. Crookers feat. Soulwax & Mixhell “We Love Animals”. Honestly it sounds like Soulwax did all the production worker with all their signature synth sounds 🙂

“International human rights day (10 December) marks the anniversary of the United Nation’s historic ”Universal Declaration Of Human Rights” on 10 December 1948. The UDHR set out for the first time in a single document the fundamental rights to which everyone, everywhere is entitled – including the right to life, liberty, security, the freedoms of opinion, association and expression, and the right not to be subjected to torture or cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment. “Girl, girl. Tonight. Dancefloor.” That lyric sums up what this track is all about. Do it. In Flagranti kills it with this remix. Ali Love’s album is up there on my highly anticipated albums of Twenty-Ten list.
Hot City is the right blend of classic house, two-step, garage and everything in between – in other words it will get people dancing. Hot City’s subtlely and simplicity is what makes the tracks work so well. I just discovered Hot City 2 weeks ago (via Mr. @electrodrone) and am very impressed. I love the glitched ot synths and vocals. Check out “Hot City Bass” and “Sweat” here they totally remind me of Surkin & Bobmo’s, High Powered Boys. (speaking of what are they up to?)

Moby – I Love To Move In Space (Space Echo Return Dub)
“Just a bunch of pretty bits recorded directly to the super worn out 1/4″ tape in a Roland Space Echo.”

Cut Copy – Hearts On Fire (Jerry’s Drum Dub) “World’s greatest drummer + 2 Space Echoes + Two Spring Reverbs = Nice”
“NT89 & Savile’s debut EP “In Bocca Al Lupo” is a lesson in nervous energy. Jittery tribal drums roll over hi hats that slink in and out of view. A bassline stumbles in, winding up slowly amongst the syncopation. Then, a break. A deep breath… before we’re sucked in again, this time with a scream that’s warped and detuned until the track finally hisses in defeat. This is side A, “Plug,” already receiving support from the legendary Zombie Nation.”
Simple & devastating on the dancefloor. Amazing artwork.
