Holy Ghost! premieres “Teenagers In Heat”, the most new wave and 80s tinged tune to date. The intro and sequenced synth line is super Yazoo sounding with a grand chorus full of church bells and synth lead lines that would make New Order proud.

Holy Ghost! channels their inner David Byrne with this angular disco funk tune entitled “Dumb Disco Ideas”. Shout outs to time lapsed videos.

Holy Ghost! hints at the direction of their latest sonic direction with their track entitled “It Gets Dark”. They dig deeper into the dark New Order vibes that they touched upon on their self-titled album. There amazing ability to craft big hooks and choruses is still very evident on this track. Let us see where the duo goes from here.

Holy Ghost! have teamed up with Green Label Sound once again, this time teaming up with fellow DFA buddies, Nancy Whang and Juan Maclean to cover a classic Ministry tune, “I Wanted To Tell Her”. It is quite an appropriate track that suits Holy Ghost!’s new wave disco vibe.

Today Holy Ghost! released their remix EP of their next single “Wait & See”. It is a collection of remixes that take this already dancefloor friendly track deeper into the House world with remixes by Richard X, Moby and Kris Menace. The CFCF remix does the opposite, taking the big hooks of “Wait & See” and submersing them into a beach friendly/Balearic Disco setting. #Poolvibes all around….

Holy Ghost!’s debut LP is one of my favorite albums of the year. In the age of making indie-chic-disco-dance-rock-pop, Holy Ghost! shines with an album that is a genuine attempt in making synth music that respects the synth dance greats. The synth gods such as Depeche Mode, New Order and Giorgio Moroder all look down with approval at this album. Instead of exploiting the cheesy, fake plastic feeling of synthesizers and all that its culture embodies, Holy Ghost! proves that they are disco disciples that have studied every synth manual and vinyl they have ever laid their hands on.

Oh yea and they write some undeniably amazing melodies and hooks. Dance 😉

Holy Ghost! – Wait & See

I got excited when I saw the latest Holy Ghost! single is entitled “Do It Again” thinking that it could be a disco cover of the Steely Dan track by the same name. Since Michael McDonald is making a guest appearance on the album I thought they were going all out with the Yacht Rock. Instead “Do It Again” is new wave disco track that reminds me of Tom Tom Club and The Talking Heads with Holy Ghost’s usual nostalgic disco flair.
