1. Who is RAMPAGE?


Rampage is one person, Eddie is my real name. I am a DJ/producer/remixer from the southside of Chicago.

 
2. What are some of your influences? What was your first musical memory?


Some of my influences include lots of old Chicago house, ghetto house, anything with lots of bass, 90s rave techno, video games from Sega and Nintendo and many old horror films.
My first musical memory would be hearing my family listen to lots of different music from disco to R&B to salsa to oldies to freestyle to house and so on. That’s what basically made me love music.

Where is the signature cut up vocals to say “Fake Blood”? Not Fake Blood’s best remix but still a fun one.

This is one of very few times I checked out and artist just because of their name and it has paid off, JOY ORBISON. Best. Name. Ever. AND his music is fucking awesome. This is dubstep that isn’t full of annoying huge warbly basslines, instead it is that introspective chilled out dubstep that Mount Kimbie and Burial have perfected meets that old school Garage sound, which I both love. Also I saw “Todd Edwards, Martin Hannett, and Mike Watt” in his influences section of Myspace and that won me over. Check out these 2 fantastic 40 min mixes as well as some clips of Joy Orbison’s own productions on myspace. I am going to be watching out for this guy.

This mix opens up with an amazing remix of Jamie Lidell’s “Another Day” by Rustie, it sounds like a drugged out Timbaland/Justin Timberlake collaboration.

Great remix by Mount Kimbie, I am a huge fan of what they are doing, they are my Burial of ’09. I love me that visual/introspective dubstep.

Erol Alkan’s psychedlic/krautrock partner in crime Richard Norris has another motor-riffic/kraut side project known as The Time And Space Machine. I love how all these big name producer/DJs like Erol and the Dewaele Bros are all coming out with Krautrock inspired side projects, connecting with the roots of dance music. Checkout Richard Norris’ new single as well as a 30 sec clip of Die Verboten, the Dewaele Bros and Riton’s Krautrock project.
