The mighty Flying Lotus cannot be stopped. He is a force that is out to prove he is just a constant flow of creativity and sonic goodness. “Cosmogramma” showed us that he is a musical guru with tracks like “Do The Astral Plane” which has been a summer hit for me. As we all wait for a new Friendly Fires album this latest Bugged Out Suck My Deck mix mixed by the trio will have to suffice. The UK trio teams up with the Toronto House duo to produce a track that pays homage to the classic NYC House sound that we all know and love. Egyptian Hip Hop, the band that seems to be filling in Late of The Pier’s shoes at the moment teams up with Hudson Mohawke for their new EP, “Some Reptiles Developed Wings” out on Moshi Moshi. This is yet another producer/DJ teaming up with a band to produced some fruitful sonic treats. Hud Mo takes a step back and really lets Egyptian Hip Hop’s sound and vibe shine rather than adding his touch and sound to their tracks, proving that he is really fits into his “Producer Shoes”. Here is a preview of Erol Alkan’s re-working/re-edit/re-visioning of Gonzales’ “Never Stop” out on limited edition vinyl on Phantasy Sound. Erol turns the Rap/Piano track into a disco-techno-electro dancefloor ready tune – nothing revolutionary or different for Mr. Alkan but if anything Erol is preparing us all for the epic “Ivory Tower”.
Kavsrave should be selling is beats to huge R’n’B/Pop Stars. Yet another one of his productions “Deluded” is screaming for Justin Timberlake-esque vocals. The huge stabbing synths and growling bassline will fulfill any of your Timbaland cravings. “Delude” is yet another fantastic production by Kavsrave who has already impressed me with his last release, his “Quotes EP” out on Numbers Records. Big choons.
The now solo Aeroplane has reworked Chromeo’s first single “Don’t Turn The Lights On” a straightforward disco dancefloor track. A super slick and sexy tune. Pre-Order “Business Casual” here.
This is a release massive release I am looking forward to on Ed Banger Records out at the end of the month, August 31. The single “Cryptic Motion” is a return to funk for Mr. Squarepusher – sort of his take on a Dam Funk’s boogie sound. Here is a teaser of the B-Side to the release, a remix by the one and only Mr. Oizo. The weirdo motherfunk ship has landed courtesy of Ed Banger Records.
Take a hugely successful buzzband and then have the “it” buzz-artist remix their hit single – should work right? Ah the lovely music industry we live in by any means possible how can we the hype alive?! Well in this case it works as the pop prince Penguin Prison brings down the hyper-active falsetto of Passion Pit into a whispery, Holy Ghost! Yacht House, Disco sounding track. I really enjoy that bite in the bassline.
As the musical genius Gonzales prepares to unleash “Ivory Tower”, his latest venture with the help of the one and only Boys Noize here is his next single “I Am Europe”. A playful “guess-who-am-I” track that lays out all the comical absurdities of Europe. Make sure to check out the music video which is more of a trailer to the epic film that coincides with the album that features Tiga.
Djedjotronic takes on “I am Europe” turning it into a massive “diplomatic techno” track ready to globally dominate any dancefloor.
Looks like there is only one screening of “Ivory Tower” in North America which will be in Brooklyn, so everyone be there for this epic occasion.
