Breakbot : Programme

Breakbot’s first ever full length album “By Your Side” will be out in September of this year 2012. “Programme” is the B-side to the first single and it is quite a 70s smooth rock jam. Just imagine if The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan decided to score a film together in the mid 80s – this would be the title credits music. So much smooth guitar and synth, I love it.

PS. Mr. Breakbot if you need a bassist for your live set – holler at your boy 😉

Housse de Racket x The Beach Boys

Housse de Racket do a tasteful job at making The Beach Boy’s “Til I Die” their own with this spacey psychedilic cover. This video they created to accompany the cover is something reminiscent of a Storm Thurgeson artwork. Pink Floyd and co would approve.

White Denim : Get Back To Love (Street Joy)

The OG Austin, Texas rockers White Denim’s latest track is smoother than ever. It is even smoother than a “Drugs” b-side, “Hot Thought”

Jai Paul : Jasmine

Ah and the boy returns. Jai Paul drops “Jasmine” upon the internet, a slowburner of a tune that is propelled by a pedaling bassline. Jai Paul’s whispery vocals floats over the mid-tempo groove along with some funky envelope filtered guitar. OK XL Recordings glad to see all the $$$ you made off Adele was funneled to Mr. Jai Paul. Can’t wait for the album!

Clark : Iradelphic

Clark is on another level with his latest release “Iradelphic”. Warp Records proves that they can find some of the finest musical talent out today and Clark is that intersection of all they are known for on their fine musical roster. Imagine if Bibio, Boards of Canada and Rustie all were wrangled into Clark’s studio for an intense month session. “Iradelphic” would be the product of that session. There is everything from pristine production, candid guitar performances, warm analog synths to well crafted songs. This is the album of 2012 that I have been waiting for.
