Asian Dan Interview: Poney Poney

Antoine and Flo from Poney Poney were kind of enough to answer a few questions for Asian Dan. Find out what it was like to work with Xavier and Para One and what some of their favorite tunes are at the moment. Their new EP is out now on Institubes. I can’t wait for their pop drenched album.

Antoine: We’re Antoine and Flo, two gentlemen from Paris. We play modern pop music.

2. What are your biggest influences, musical or otherwise?
A: Good melodies, ostinato, solos and snares that go “pff”.

3. What are your first musical memories?
A: Playing the flute at school then learning “Apache” on the guitar to impress my swedish penfriend. It didn’t work.

CFCF – You Hear Colours

Just found this on NickyDigital.com, a fantastic track from Montreal producer/DJ, CFCF. It reminds me Tangerine Dream meets Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” minus the vocals. Limited edition 7″ Vinyl out on Acephale Records

Music Video: The Bloody Beetroots feat. Steve Aoki – Warp

Everything is better in slow motion, too bad not this song. This collab should be so much better. I am excited to hear what The Bloody Beetroots have in store for their album out this summer.

Lily Allen x Duke Dumont

Whenever I listen to Duke Dumont I feel super chilled out or like I am a bunch of pills. I love what Duke Dumont does to this Lily Allen track. Definitely a track you play on the way home after a long night. Duke Dumont’s productions are super visual sounding, very similar to Burial.

Rob da Bank wrangles up two 60 min mixes from the legends, Fred Falke and Busy P. Fred Falke drops all his own remixes and edits of some his favorite tracks. Falke has edits of Hans Zimmer AND Todd Rundgren!! Busy P gives a little taste of what he would listen to at the end of a night of partying, a little chilled out but still bangertastic.

The Juan MacLean x Surkin

Surkin somehow mastered and captured the sound of early house music even though he was probably only 10 or so when it was at its peak. I love how he uses Nancy Whang’s vocal sample. I love the string stabs and the piano loop. And of course the fluttering 303 and 808 bleeps.
