Toro y Moi gives up a stream of “Campo” off his North American tour exclusive 7″. Toro Y Moi embraces some west coast vibes in this tune and just as Seals & Croft captured the essence of the summer in “Summer Breeze”, Chad bottles up some autumnal vibes. “Campo” offers up a woodsy and warm funk that will accompany you on all your fall strolls. You can already hear the leaves crunching under your feet.

Somehow Toro Y Moi’s “Say That” has gotten even funkier and smoother with the help of the one and only funkmeister, Dam-Funk. There is very little to say about this “Re-Freak” except enjoy and funk on.

Toro y Moi’s latest track “So Many Details” is a moody and smooth track that is really captured in this artsy, emotional, James Bond tinged video.

Toro y Moi is in the process of shedding his Chillwave shell and sprout wings that show he is a proper artist that can produce more than just lo-fi tracks. Underneath the Pine is his 2nd full length release, an album that sounds like The Whitest Boy Alive meets Stereolab/Broadcast with heavy sprinkling of boogie a la Dam-Funk. “New Beat” is the first single off the album, a highly appropriate name for a funky tune that shows that Toro y Moi is not just riding a chill wave and wants to dance.

Toro y Moi is a staple of this chillwave movement and takes on Brooklyn’s own, Body Language with a heartfelt remix of “At A Glance”, reciprocating Body Language’s remix duties on Toro y Moi’s “Timed Pleasure” which was set loose into the blogosphere a few weeks ago. Both tunes are introspective takes on each others work by highlighting what each of them do best, Body Language’s chill pop sensibility and Toro Y Moi’s ability to create filtered-out atmospheres.

The summer has faded and the fall is now upon us. In my search for some introspective/chill fall tunes I finally gave Washed Out a listen and am quite impressed. I enjoy his lo-fi, DIY electronic productions vibe that channel a smooth, musical sensibility that I feel Breakbot has pioneered and brought to the forefront of electronic music.

I just got hold of the new Bibio album (which came out in June – on Warp of course) and I am blowin’ away. It is the perfect mix of downtempo, chill, thoughtful/introspective beats mixed with some amazing guitar work that reminds me of Jim O’Rourke. I cannot stop listening to “Lovers’ Carvings”.
