Erol Alkan Presents Disco 3000

Erol Alkan Presents Disco 3000

Much love to Discodust for sharing this!

Special 80 minute mix of spaced out disco, bubbling synthesis and balearic gems. A tribute to the days of tape edits and letting a single track play for ages…Made on 2 turntables with the aid of a 1970’s Cat Octave synth and Korg Stage Echo.

Erol Alkan: “i’ve put together a 80 minute mix of some disco vibes which are lighting up my stratosphere. i began mixing it up just for my own selfish ipod needs during a day off i had at christmas and only recently got round to finishing due to album commitments. most of the tracks are re-edited in some form or over, and i splashed some moody synth drizzle over some of the beats. i got another hour of this mix sitting about, dunno, i maybe save it for another edition. would love to play club sets more like this, who knows, maybe i will… anyone wanna do a party?”

Erol is a man of music. He does it all from DJing to Producing, he just loves music. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a piano virtuoso or is going to score a film soon.

August 10 in Toronto, Erol Alkan, Soulwax and A-Trak are spinning as part of the TIME Festival. I am so excited. Soulwax AND Erol Alkan, two groups of men that just love music 🙂

Justice x 28 Weeks Later

What does Glenjamn and a few of his buddies decide do when they get high? The most typical stoner thing, find songs that sync up to movies, Justice x 28 Weeks Later. Thus is born, 28 Stressful Weeks Later. This is some epic shit, Michael Jackson’s Thriller on crack. Justice should have just scored this entire movie. Is this our generation’s Pink Floyd and Wizard of Oz? I quote Glenjamn by saying this is “one of the most important stoner discoveries of our time”. Take note of the transition from Stress into Waters of Nazareth.

The movie ends with zombies running toward the Eiffel Tower, freak coincidence?!?

Everyone it’s time to play name that song by listening to over 150 intros that 2 Many DJ’s/Soulwax put together in this mix for the BBC. It is an interesting concept.

Justice vs. Soulwax – Disco Sirens

This new track premiered tonight on Annie Mac’s Mash Up on Radio 1. This tune has a very classic rave feel with the magic touch of Justice and Soulwax. This is a track from Midfield General’s upcoming album General Disarray. Midfield General took on the Executive Producer role for Justice’s single D.A.N.C.E. and in return Xavier De Rosnay helped produce the forthcoming single Disco Sirens.

“DJ Annie Mac premiered a track called ‘Disco Sirens’ by Midfield General. She called it ‘Justice vs Soulwax’, which is a bit confusing. In fact Xavier from Justice produced the track and David Dewaele (of Soulwax) has mixed it.” (Via Soulwax.info)

From press release by ABKCO dated Feb. 14, 2008:

ABKCO Records premieres a sensational Soulwax remixed single of The Rolling Stones classic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” featured in Columbia Pictures’ 21 (21 – IMDB), which stars Jim Sturgess and Kate Bosworth, with Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Spacey. The film will be released in theaters nationwide on March 28, 2008.

ABKCO Records will release the track exclusively through iTunes for a one week period starting February 19th. At the same time, the song will be available through all mobile providers as a downloadable mastertone as well as a video ringer, using footage from the film.

“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” was remixed specifically for the film by Soulwax, brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, who have blazed a trail in the dance/electronica and pop universes. The track was remixed under ABKCO’s guidance in Soulwax’s studio in Ghent, Belgium.

This indietastic soundtrack includes, Peter, Bjorn & John, producer extrodinaire Mark Ronson, a new LCD Soundsystem track, and maybe a Justice remix of Metallica?, Oh wait.

Archigram, Detroit by the way of France.

I discovered this track on Crydamoure Presents Waves II, a compilation on Crydamoure, Guy-Manuel Homem-Christo’s fantastic record label that should release more music now. This track Doggystyle is actually a cover of Iggy Pop’s I Wanna Be Your Dog. It is interesting to see this reworking of a classic Detroit rock tune in the style of some hard hitting Detroit techno by the way of France.
