Sébastien Tellier has been likened to the famous Todd Rundgren, with his versatility and abilty to grasp and fuse pop music with extreme virtuosity. He reminds me of Vincent Gallo meets Jon Brion and of course Serge Gainsbourg. Here is the fantastic track that apparently Radiohead ripped off on “Reckoner”. The famous Tony Allen, Fela Kuti’s drummer plays drums on this track as well as on Sébastien Tellier’s album, Politics, he beat Damon Albarn, take that The Good, the Bad and the Queen. Take note of the gorgeous and lush strings that work so well with the drums and bass.
The official video for Sébastien Tellier – La Ritournelle (Mr. Dan’s Mix) by director Ace Norton, who also directed the new Simian Mobile Disco video for Hustler.
And finally the one and only, “African James Brown”, Mr. Fela Kuti featuring Cream’s Ginger Baker:
The score for Risky Business is 80s epic synth greatness courtesy of Mr. Edgar Froese & Tangerine Dream. This is Tangerine Dream’s most commercial movie score for they have scored over sixty-five other films as well as released over a hundred albums.
Here is my favorite track off the soundtrack, very Steve Reich:
These are some Tangerine Dream-esque sounding tracks. John Frusciante said that this song is directly influenced by Edgar Froese’s solo album, Epsilon In Malaysian Pale.
First it was Cat Power performing at the Chanel fashion show in Paris, now Daft Punk spinning a mini-mix at the recent Louis Vuitton Paris show. Of course Mr. West was there.
Daft Punk spins a concise version of their live set from the past tour with a few awesome tracks mixed in like, the new SebastiAn remix of the Guy-Manuel Homem Christo produced track, Sexual Sportswear by Sebastien Tellier, Ratatat-Lex & Kanye West-Stronger.
