Justice unveils their musical roots and influences that molded the sound of their album “Audio, Video, Disco” with this new minimix for Annie Mac’s show on Radio 1. This time they dive into some of the most iconic rock riffs of the past 40 years. These 5 mins sound like the product of major crate digging session of classic between Justice, Breakbot and Soulwax. The rock and or roller in me loses it over DFA1979 “Romantic Rights” into My Bloody Valentine “Only Shallow” into King Crimson “21st Century Schizoid Man” section of this tastefully crafted minimix.

Bonus: The legendary Rick Rubin “ruins” the Justice boys with his very straightforward disco breakbeat remix of “On’n’On”. I was thinking this was gonna be a bigger rock and roll remix since it was in the hands of Mr. Rubin but I guess not…

This is new Justice album is quite promising. All I keep hearing is Queen “Flash Gordon”, later ELO mixed with Dire Straits produced by Yellow Magic Orchestra which is something I totally am fine with. I am glad that someone like Justice are being the ambassadors of this classic sound. Now I am off to listen to Dire Straits “Sultans of Swing”.

Justice is still on their pursuit of becoming ELO circa “Time” and The Buggles circa “The Age of Plastic” with the title single “Audio, Video Disco”. At first listen the track did not do anything for me but paired with the visual of music video via So-Me their vision they are trying to get across becomes clearer as they are just trying to be a 70s Prog Rock band. Love they use a CP-80 and a Mellotron in the music video, attention to detail is everything. I will always be a sucker for behind the scenes Powerpop montage videos and Rock and Roll cliches.
