Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange aka Lightspeed Champion dives into the film world by scoring the much talked about “Palo Alto” directed by Gio Coppola starring James Franco. Dev provides all the score to the film itself but also contributes brand new songs in the vein of his Blood Orange moniker that appear on the soundtrack out June 3 on Domino records. The title track “Palo Alto” finds Devonté Hynes tapping into the 90s world with a very RnB and Trip-Hop laced song that sounds like it could have made the cut to the Romeo+Juliet soundtrack.
Never under estimate the power of the under-2 minute pop song. Chromeo’s “Ezra’s Interlude” fully exploits this powerful songwriting tool with the help of Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and his soulful falsetto.
