Jacques Greene : Promise
Jacques Greene has paved a new path in this blockchain crypto NFT madness with his latest musical offering “Promise”. He sold a 6 sec vid loop along with a snippet of the track as an NFT on Foundation but also tagged on the publishing rights to the track when released. He sold the track for ~$20k. It is truly the wild west in the music business world especially how the pandemic accelerated its demise but it is exciting to see communities rally and help each other to connect and survive. Let’s see what this new NFT system brings to the music world in the next year or so…
Cadence Weapon : Senna (feat. Jacques Greene)
Canada’s very own Cadence Weapon re-emerges with the help of Jacques Greene. “Senna” is an ode to the master F1 racer and proves that the two of them are out here lapping us all. Cadence handles JG’s beat with precision and ease – pretty sure he is the first rapper ever to namedrop Pino Palladino in a track too 🙂 Watch their extremely fun music video and pre-order “Parallel World” now.
Jacques Greene : Imanishi Japanese Kitchen “You Are What You Eat” – Session #6
Two of my favorite Toronto institutions team up. JG provides a 2 hour ambient mix inspired by some of the best Japanese food in Toronto. Truly a pairing of food and music that will soothe and warm your soul during these strange and cold times.
Jacques Greene : Thaw
The LuckyMe family is back with their 2020 Advent Calendar. Jacques Greene kicks off the 12 day compilation with with this meditative and introspective intro tune “Thaw” – download it over at bandcamp now where proceeds of the track will go to The Extinction Rebellion Global Relief Fund.
“For this years Advent we asked the crew to consider the theme of “utopia”, and what it means to leave 2020 behind. Once the smoke settles, there will be new growth. What does that sound like?” – LuckyMe
Goodnight : Sometimes (A MBV “My Balearic Valentine” Version)
“With all this time on my hands during the great isolation of 2020 I decided to record some covers of my favorite songs. I planned only to share them with close friends. “Sometimes” was recorded live in one take straight to 4-track cassette. I sent the initial raw guitar and vocal version to Jacques Greene and he had the idea of going full Andrew Weatherall 90’s Balearic. He worked out an arrangement and added drums and here we are with this version. It is definitely best listened to while a warm breeze is blowing across your face.”
