Not Waving proves that he can create his version of a pop album. A collection of 11 tracks with features by the likes of Marie Davidson and Mark Lanegan who all croon over ethereal post punk moody synth productions. A refreshing and tastefully restrained LP by Not Waving.
Koreless reveals music from his upcoming batch of new songs. “Black Rainbow” dives deeper into Lewis’ unique sense of rhythm and textures. The accompanying video is an absurd piece where he puts his brother in a very precarious scenario as he tumbles down a grassy hill. I pray that he survived all the tumbles. Anything for Koreless’ art…
“Work (It) Out” is the most hectic track off of Baltra’s upcoming EP “Ambition” – out on Local Action Records May 27. Enjoy this video of Baltra’s bike commute through Time Square and especially admire his shirt choices.
Barker is always so consistent and this latest release just take his sound to even high altitudes. Somehow he takes elements of Trance and IDM combines them all into an extremely tasteful sound that is uniquely his own.
Cadence Weapon blows open the dystopian world we live in on “Parallel World”. He questions our modern surveillance state, systemic racism, gentrification, inequalities and the police profiling all through the lens grime, trap, acid house and everything in between. A truly versatile and expansive album that reveals more with each listen. Time to embrace the stark reality we live in and move forward together to make things better.
Sweden’s own ishi vu unveils “La Luz” – an LP that explores the worlds of post punk and trip hop through the lens of the the dancefloor. “This is your Life” has been on repeat for me and is my favorite track along with “Poison Dart” which touches upon the best elements of the Deftones. Enjoy the ride.
