Carte Blanche’s “White Man on the Moon” EP is out now and is yet a continuation of their journey into HOUSE. In honor of the release here is track that didn’t make the EP (probably due to sample clearance issues), “The Molecules” – a tune that samples Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” monologue. Just imagine this track as a hymn for the Church of HOUSE.

Mehdi & Riton return with a new House Party mixtape entitled “The Pyjama Party” to kick off a new release of an EP entitled “White Man on the Moon” coming soon as well as a massive tour – 909 included! There are many classic dancefloor gems on this mixtape as well a new Carte Blanche track featuring the lovely voice of Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor entitled “With You”.

Mr. Mehdi and Mr. Riton are on the quest to bring Acid back and I am a proponent of that. And what better way by taking that fat synth bassline in Chromeo’s “Don’t Turn the Lights On” and turning it into an energetic Acid House track. This one is a dancefloor killer y’all.

DJ Mehdi & Riton, Carte Blanche in Europe is to House as is A-Trak & Armand Van Helden, Duck Sauce in NYC is to Disco House. That is what I am seeing as DJs/Producers are on a quest to touch back with their roots in order to find a new sound or even the reason why they do what they do. I’ve always been a fan of Riton’s work and the fact that he is so versatile with from his space Krautrock projects, Die Verboten and Eine Kleine Nacht Musik to his straightforward club banging tracks. And of course DJ Mehdi is the last remaining DJ on the Ed Banger squad that really interests me at the moment. Let’s see what this duo will do to reinvigorate the masses interests in classic house a la Duck Sauce.
Also this live iteration of Carte Blanche sounds interesting especially with the introduction of a 909 and the “No Bangers” rule.
